10 Upcoming Horror Movie Rumours You Need To Know
1. Universal's New Bride Of Frankenstein
It seems like Universal’s ‘Dark Universe’ isn’t stopping anytime soon. Beginning with 2017’s The Mummy, it seems that Universal wants to continue with the contemporary remakes of its back catalogue.
The next movie reportedly in the works is a remake of Bride Of Frankenstein, completely skipping the original Frankenstein movie.
Veteran screenwriter David Koepp has revealed that although the COVID-19 situation has essentially shelved the plans for a Bride Of Frankenstein remake, the movie is still being considered. In an interview with Collider, Koepp revealed that Universal are currently looking through a list of directors for the project.
As for the stars, the original remake was rumored to star Javier Bardem and Angelina Jolie as Frankenstein’s Monster and the monster’s titular Bride respectively, and it doesn’t seem that that idea has gone out the window.
Apparently, Koepp’s vision couldn’t be more different than what The Mummy offered: “It’s not the great big, $150 million extravaganza with giant movie stars. It’s not as scaled down as Invisible Man but much more reasonable, doable thing, with, I think, a really cool idea and it’s all present day.”
Universal seems happy with this decision especially after the success of The Invisible Man, so it may not be long before the Dark Universe graces the silver screen once again.
