7. The Best Man Holiday
It's A Sequel To... The Best Man (1999) Fifteen years ago, Spike Lee's cousin, Malcolm D. Lee, made an okay movie called
The Best Man, which you can probably guess - despite getting some good reviews - didn't really capture the public's attention in the ways the movies of his relation did. Don't get me wrong: it's not a bad movie, per se, but am I going to suggest that you actually watch this flick about a wedding in your spare time? No, I am not. Re-watch
Con Air or something. The plot of
The Best Man concerned a soon-to-be published author who also finds himself poised as the best man at a wedding, and then rom-com stuff happens. Terrence Howard was in it. For some reason, fifteen years later, we're getting a random sequel to this, presumably because Malcolm D. Lee has nothing else on his slate, and why not? But how many movies do you know with "holiday" in the title that are actually any good? Exactly.
