10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Aren't What You Think
6. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker ISN'T Really The End Of Anything
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is being marketed as the conclusion of the nine-film "Skywalker Saga", but if George Lucas' sci-fi franchise has ever taught us anything, it's that "no one's ever really gone."
And while it's quite probable that The Rise of Skywalker will indeed deliver the final appearance of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the film's title alone makes it clear that Skywalker's legacy isn't going anywhere.
Though Disney will likely take a short breather before drumming up the hype for Star Wars: Episode X - likely allowing David Benioff and D.B. Weiss time to release their three spin-off movies - there's basically zero chance that Episode X hasn't been announced five years from now.
Disney loves money, and as much as they're trying to convince fans that The Rise of Skywalker will bring a sense of finality to the world of Star Wars, rest assured it's going to leave the door wide open for Rey to command the franchise for Episodes X-XII, hopefully with less nostalgic entanglements.
The Rise of Skywalker is more of a new beginning than it is a concrete end, basically.
