It can be a dangerous thing to listen to the internet when it comes to making a movie. You can't please all of the people all of the time, although the producers of Sonic the Hedgehog saw such overwhelming backlash over the design of the character that they really had no choice.

Who could have thought that we'd go from such outcry over the first film to such anticipation for the third just four years later?

Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel have been fun outings, above average when it comes to typical video game adaptations. The titular Blue Devil (Ben Schwartz) is a quippy and loveable hero, while his rivalry has grown with Dr. Robotnik, a character who Jim Carrey clearly loves playing and has thrown everything into. And if you thought the addition of Idris Elba as Knuckles in the second film was good, just wait for the threequel.

Joining the returning crew, as well as Carrey playing both the Eggman and his grandfather, Ivo, will be Keanu Reeves as Shadow, an inspired casting that has only made the character's tease at the end of Sonic 2 all the more enticing.
