10 Upcoming Movies That Just Got HUGE Downgrades

7. A Loss Of Director And Big Delay - Blade

Quite possibly the most exciting project unveiled during Marvel Studios' 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel, the debut of the vampire-hunting badass known as Blade in Kevin Feige's MCU felt like the sort of flick that could drastically change-up the Marvel game in the upcoming Phases.

And the casting of Oscar-winning thespian Mahershala Ali in the titular role felt like an inspired call, too.

Yet, in the years that would follow that initial reveal, precious little information about what this incoming Blade project would entail was made known, with the film only landing a director last summer.

Just a few months before the cameras were set to roll, though, the blood-sucking film's director Bassam Tariq decided to recently exit the MCU flick centred around Eric Brooks "due to continued shifts in our production schedule", as Marvel put it.

Further reports from entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider on the initial Blade script only containing two (lacklustre) action sequences and Ali himself being frustrated by the process both also pointed to an uncertain future for the long-awaited vampire entry.

And the film now being pushed back a year - going from its original Nov. 3, 2023 release, to Sept. 6, 2024 instead - means that fans will have to wait that little bit longer for this particular Blade while Marvel get their supernatural act together.
