10 Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies To Be Excited About

2017's Wonder Woman became as much of a beacon of hope as the titular character herself when it single-handedly dragged the DCEU out of the dark depths of despair that some of the previous entries had left it in, and in spite of Justice League's best efforts to reverse that success, it marked the beginning of both strong and successful standalone follow-ups.

We should have seen its upcoming sequel by now, but with everything happening, it has had its release date shifted to October instead. Needless to say, it's still arguably this year's most anticipated release.

With Gal Gadot returning as the Amazonian Warrior and Chris Evans' Steve Trevor making a miraculous comeback, Wonder Woman 1984 is set in the heart of the '80s (just in cast the title didn't give it away) and it promises to be a significant departure from its World War I-set predecessor.

In another's hands, this departure might signal trouble, but with Patty Jenkins back in the director's chair, expect to see Wonder Woman ride that lightning bolt of success (literally and figuratively) into a decade that we can only describe as a pop-culture phenomenon.
