5. Alan Partridge 2
TV comedies rarely live up to expectations when making the transition to the big screen - more often than not they feel like stretched out television episodes, struggling to cram in as many jokes per minute into an hour and a half as they do in the half hour format. Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa might not have reached the same levels of hilarity as I'm Alan Partridge - or even the incredible Mid Morning Matters short films which aired on YouTube - but as far as movie versions of television comedies went it hit the spot far more than it missed. The success of Alpha Papa brought Alan Partridge to the attention of a wider audience and gathered new fans in the process, which can only be a good thing (as much as Steve Coogan might resent it, Partridge is still his best character). Given that the character remains as funny today as when he first appeared on the radio, more movies can only be a good thing. Anticipation factor: It's early days yet and Partridge needs to remain in the public eye if he's going to have another big screen hit, but the character has endured for so many years now the fan base is big enough to make this one to keep an eye out for.
