10 Ways J.K. Rowling Has Ruined Harry Potter

2. Failed To Write The Dumbledore/Grindelwald Subtext Clearer In The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Dumbledore's sexuality has been through a journey.

At first he was a secretly (in terms of what the books tells us) gay character all along, and had a crush on Grindelwald that was only confirmed by Rowling after the series' conclusion. No indication was given that it was an actual relationship until the lead up to Crimes of Grindelwald.

Despite the decision to make it a relationship, the filmmakers clearly stated they didn't want to explore it in the movie, leading to fan outrage.

The subtext is still there in the film despite these previously stated intentions, but only for those familiar with the information. As an introduction to their relationship, it's not clear enough. Sure, waiting for it could make it more effective down the line. But with all the critique aimed at her lack of representation and her later attempts to retcon it, a little more clarity would have gone a long way.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
