10 Worst Movies Of 2023 (So Far)
1. Blackbird
Blackbird is one of the most staggeringly unhinged vanity projects in recent Hollywood history, with the Lord of the Dance himself, Michael Flatley, serving as writer, director, producer, and star of what can only be described as "what you get when you order Casino Royale from Wish."
Flatley has created this action vehicle as an excuse for him to play dress-up as a James Bond-adjacent secret agent, and it's about as persuasive - or not - as you'd expect.
Flatley is an undeniably talented and popular entertainer, but an actor? Not so much. An action star? Absolutely not.
Watching him try to smolder intensely is ultimately more hilarious than anything, and given the bevy of beautiful women who throw themselves at him throughout the runtime, the project's existence as pure wish fulfilment quickly penetrates through its already gossamer-thin layer of believability.
There's something uniquely awful about terrible films clearly made without a shred of self-awareness, and that's really what makes Blackbird a memorable disaster that's been quite fittingly compared to Tommy Wiseau's The Room.
