Casting Marky Mark as a science teacher was an awful idea. His expressions range from vacant to confused and back again, and he seems miles out of his depth (not in a good way).

To be fair to Marky Mark, his poor performance in 2008's The Happening wasn't entirely his fault.

No, a large portion of the blame lies with whoever signed off on casting the former bad-boy rapper as a science teacher.

Throughout the movie's fairly uninteresting plot, Mr. Wahlberg spends the entire 91 minute run-time in a state of perpetual bewilderment, delivering lines that seemed to be written for almost anyone else.

Wahlberg is another actor who has proved his worth in the right roles, with remarkable performances in movies such as The Departed and The Fighter, but casting him as a man of science was asking the audience to suspend their disbelief before the movie had even begun.
