10 Worst PG-13 Horror Films Since 2020

With Emma Roberts, Michael Shannon, and John Gallagher Jr. on board, 2022’s Abandoned was set up to be a great big hit. However, as you can probably tell from it being on this list, it wasn’t. 

A couple (Roberts and Gallagher) and their newborn son move into a new house in the country, even though they know that a horrible murder took place there many years ago. Like all oblivious people in horror films, they don’t think anything will come of is, but oh boy, were they wrong about that. 

If you’re wondering where you’ve heard that set-up before, it’s because countless horrors have begun in exactly the same way. Not a great start for Abandoned, and it doesn’t get much better. 

Not a great deal of anything happens during the film and the stuff that does happen isn't new. There’s themes of post-natal depression and motherhood, but they’re never explored in any meaningful way. Also, because of the tame age rating, it never gets gory enough to justify its non-story. 

There is no reason at all to watch this movie, so take its own advice and abandon it.
