10 Worst PG-13 Horror Films Since 2020

6. Five Nights At Freddy’s

Fantasy Island Movie
Universal

Settle in and prepare to hear the tragic tale of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, a story that, ironically, ended up being more terrifying than the actual film.

The idea to adapt the incredibly popular video game series - which puts players into the shoes of a night watchman at a restaurant full of haunted animatronics - was around for eight years before it finally happened. In that time, two other films with a similar premise - The Banana Splits Movie and Willy’s Wonderland - got released, and both turned out to be better than 5NAF’s final effort.

Starring Josh Hutcherson as the unfortunate employee, the movie featured a threadbare plot, unfunny jokes, and monsters that wouldn’t have felt out of place in a regular Chuck E. Cheese. Some fans of the games enjoyed it because it was stuffed full of inside jokes, but those were of no comfort to anyone who’d never played them.

After almost a decade of waiting, Five Nights at Freddy’s underdelivered in almost every single way. However, it did make an absolute killing at the box office, so expect a sequel in the next few years.
