10 X-Men Characters Who Look Nothing Like The Movies

3. Gambit - X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Gambit is one of those characters the fans have been begging the studios to put into a movie for years, but thanks to a solo film being stuck in development hell for years, the only Gambit who made it to live-action was the one seen briefly in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

He was portrayed by Taylor Kitsch, and while he managed to get the accent right, he wasn't given the right look by the wardrobe department, and this ended up making a ton of fans angry. The Ragin' Cajun didn't have many similarities to his comic book counterpart, and the fans noticed.

In the comics, Gambit wears a brown trench coat, and his costume underneath is red and black. He also wears a mask that hides portions of his forehead and chin, but otherwise leaves his face exposed. Kitch's costume was primarily black, and he wore a hat, which isn't something Gambit did in the comics.

Kitch also didn't wear a mask of any kind, and if someone showed up wearing his movie costume to Comic-Con, it's highly unlikely anyone would recognize them as Gambit since the colors and makeup of the outfit were all wrong. On the plus side, he did wield a staff, and he threw cards that exploded, but he wasn't the Gambit the fans were hoping to see on the big screen.
