11 Characters Who Might Be The MCU's First LGBT* Superhero

Marvel have really set themselves up for a fall if one of the Eternals is not LGBT*. It’s one of the few Phase 4 films to be announced, and while we don’t know all the cast yet, we know it’s at least being written by a gay man in Matthew K. Firpo.

The idea that there’ll be an LGBT* character featuring goes way beyond this though, with Marvel themselves appearing to play up the rumour.

During a red carpet interview with Variety, Marvel’s production chief Victoria Alonso said that ‘the world was ready’ for an LGBT* superhero, and that ‘when we’re ready to announce [the Eternals cast] we will’.

This has led to heavy speculation that one of the Eternals will be that LGBT* hero the world is ready for, though exactly who it will be remains unclear.

We already have one Eternal in the MCU (Thanos), though it’s more likely the Earth Eternals who’ll be in the movie, with Angelina Jolie set to play Sersi and Richard Madden in talks for Ikaris, who’ll each be the major characters.

The odds are the LGBT* Eternal will be Hercules though, as he’s previously explored his sexuality in the comics and once dated Wolverine.
