11 Characters Who Might Be The MCU's First LGBT* Superhero
2. America Chavez
Lesbian
America Chavez, also known as Miss America, is one of Marvel’s most recent debutants, with the character debuting in 2011 and getting her own series in 2017. This Latin American character as become an LGBT* icon during her short existence though, and would be a great choice as the MCU’s first queer character.
Her solo run, written by cult queer author Gabby Rivera, wasn’t especially popular, though the character herself was, going on to join the West Coast Avengers.
This may be her ticket into the MCU though, especially if they go with multiverses.
Similar to Wiccan and Hulking hopping into Earth-616 with Young Avengers, Chavez could arrive with fellow West Coast Avengers Kate Bishop, Gwenpool and Kid Omega.
This group would certainly cause more carnage than Young Avengers, and whether the MCU needs another bat guano team with a Thor backed Guardians and potentially the Asgardians arriving too is up for debate.
Still though, Chavez would be a great pick for the MCU’s first LGBT* superhero. With her patented Star Blast punch strong enough to injure Captain Marvel, she’s a surprise powerhouse as well.
