11 Characters Who Might Be The MCU's First LGBT* Superhero
3. Valkyrie
Bisexual
As mentioned with both Moondragon and Angela, the future of the cosmic universe is uncertain, and that could end up falling in Valkyrie’s favour. If Thor does join the Guardians for good, an Asgardians Of The Galaxy movie could have Valkyrie at its head.
Most of the team picks itself; Valkyrie, Korg (who by the way is also gay) and Miek are practically certs, while Beta Ray Bill would surely get the nod too. Knowing Taika Waititi’s sense of humour, maybe anthropomorphic frog Throg would feature as well. Then of course there’s the possibility of Angela in the mix to round the group out.
If Asgardians does end up happening in some form, surely that’s the time to bring her sexuality into the fray. In Thor: Ragnarok, actress Tessa Thompson and director Taika Waititi both wanted a scene confirming her bisexuality; something which is canon in the comics.
Thompson has excelled so far, and is both deserving of a bigger part and talented enough to shoulder the responsibility of being the MCU’s first LGBT* superhero.
Being queer in real life, she’ll also deliver the authenticity to cope with the increased scrutiny and ensure Valkyrie’s sexuality is revealed in a genuine, non-pandering way.
