11 Giant Plot-Holes You Didn’t Notice In 2017’s Biggest Movies

4. Lucy's Unexplained Feat Of Strength - Despicable Me 3

Expecting much internal logic from the Despicable Me movies is asking for trouble, but there is one moment in the latest installment which stuck out as especially careless.

The film's climax sees Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker) attacking Hollywood, deploying super-powered, ultra-tensile bubblegum in an attempt to send the town into space.

When Gru's (Steve Carell) wife and partner Lucy (Kristen Wiig) tries to rescue Gru's kids, she's shown effortlessly punching a hole in one of the giant gum bubbles, even though the Minions are also shown struggling to burst the bubbles with a variety of powerful weapons.

Are we supposed to believe that Lucy has some preternatural super-strength, or is this just the power of motherhood in action? Or maybe nobody should overthink a movie where the villain wants to use bubblegum to take over the world.
