11 Lame Post-Credits Scenes Everyone Regrets Waiting For

3. Gunshot - American Gangster (2007)

The Scene: This one lasts less than 10 seconds: it's a single, slow-motion shot of a dark figure in a bar, walking towards the camera and firing a gun, at which point the muzzle flash illuminates the perp to be the movie's protagonist, Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington). As the shot rings out, a bar patron in the background appears to fall back from being shot by the bullet (somehow). How Long You Waited: 7 minutes, 35 seconds. Why Everyone Regrets Staying For It: Nope, this isn't an implication that Lucas went back to his criminal ways after getting released from prison at the end of the movie, but simply a cool looking yet pointless shot that probably serves as a homage to the iconic 1903 movie The Great Train Robbery, in which an outlaw fires at the screen (as has been widely parodied in pop culture). Also, it's really unnerving and confusing why the guy sitting behind Lucas recoils as if he's been shot, despite obviously not being in the path of the bullet. Is this just a surreal affectation from Ridley Scott or is there some other meaning to it? Best not to put too much thought into it, really. Still, given that this shot appeared in the movie's trailer, it's a shame that it was relegated to a post-credits bout of cinematic self-pleasure by Scott. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AydGVXdsuS4
