In 2012's The Avengers, the members of the titular team were really struggling to gel. Tony Stark described it best when he said "takes us a while to get any traction", but when they finally came together and clicked it was for a devastating reason. Their ally, Phil Coulson - played by the brilliant Clark Gregg - had been killed. His dying words even suggested that he knew the Avengers would never have worked without an incentive - and he knew that incentive had come with his demise. What made it such a horrible and undeserving death was that he was nicest man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he suffered the most brutal death in the franchise to date. Loki stabbed him with his sceptre from behind and pierced his heart. It was awful and he didn't deserve to go out that way. Of course, he was resurrected for television's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (yey!), but that's not the point! What do you think? Did these characters deserve better deaths? Which other comic book movies characters did? Have your say in the comments section below.
