12 Controversial Movie Endings That Came Out Of Nowhere
6. The Hunchback - Kill List
Kill List, a relentless terrifying horror movie from British director Ben Wheatley, cements itself as such based on the fact that - for pretty much all of its length - it's impossible to tell what's really going on. The plot centres on two former soldiers turned hitman who take on "one final job," only to find themselves tangled up in an occult conspiracy. Whilst much of the film is open to interpretation, the ending of the movie is the part that really boggles the mind - mainly because of its plainly random and inherently eeriness After fleeing from a mad cult, the film's main protagonist, Jay, is knocked out. When he awakens, he finds himself forced to fight and kill a "hunchback" - a horrible, knife-wielding creature. When he uncloaks the dead creature, though, he realises that it wasn't a hunchback at all - it was his wife and son, strapped together, and he just brutally murdered them both. The film then ominously ends with Jay being crowned "King" of the cult. It's an ending that takes the term "mindf*ck" to whole new levels, but it also offended a whole bunch of people who couldn't come to terms with a late-stage child death scene.
