5. Not Naming The Marauders Properly
Gravity helmer Alfonso Cuaron’s lone entry into the
franchise is often singled out for praise due to its striking Gothic style and
more mature tone. However upon re-watch the flick suffers badly from attempting
to compress the original novel’s already-cluttered time travel plot, and as a
result one particular piece of vital information is left unsaid in the film
which leaves later instalments far more confusing as a result.
Remember the Marauders, the name given to Harry’s dad, future professor Lupin, future convict Sirius Black, and eventual turncoat Peter Pettigrew’s little clique during their time in Hogwarts?
Well then you must have read the books, because the identity of the Marauders is never mentioned in the movies, a glaring omission which the later films attempt to pave over but which nonetheless means that fans of the films are missing a massive piece of connective tissue which holds together the characters and plots of the following films.
