The 2002 debut feature of British writer-director Neil Marshall, Dog Soldiers took a high concept - soldiers versus werewolves - and brought it to life on a very low budget. It proved to be hugely entertaining, and announced Marshall as a filmmaker for horror fans to keep an eye on.

By 2004, a sequel - Dog Soliders: Fresh Meat - was announced, albeit with neither Marshall nor any of the original film's cast attached (though admittedly the film doesn't leave too many survivors). This follow-up would reportedly have developed the concept of the original by presenting werewolves who are soldiers, which sounds like a fun twist.

Alas, for reasons unknown the sequel failed to materialise, and there's been no indication that it will be revived anytime soon.

Perhaps that's for the best without the involvement of Neil Marshall himself, who is currently busy calling the shots on the eagerly-anticipated Hellboy reboot.
