12 Horror Movies That Deserved Sequels

6. Night Of The Creeps

The first film in the sadly short directorial career of Fred Dekker (who went on to helm The Monster Squad, before bowing out inauspiciously with RoboCop 3), this 1986 B-movie romp is an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink extravaganza encompassing old-school creature feature theatrics, zombies, aliens, hard-boiled cop action and teen romance.

The movie sees a college campus come under attack from the walking dead, when parasitic slugs created by aliens start invading the brains of local frat house jocks. This leads to a rip-roaring finale in which new lovebirds Jason Lively and Jill Whitlow are forced to put their Homecoming dance plans on hold to fight off the zombie threat.

While the theatrical cut tacked on a cheap jump scare ending which Dekker has since disowned, the original director's cut clearly leaves room for the story to continue, with indications that the aliens have come back in search of their experiment gone awry.

Alas, no sequel ever came, although Lively and Whitlow reunited in 1987 Roland Emmerich movie Ghost Chase (AKA Hollywood Monster). Watching those two films back-to-back today, no way would you think Emmerich would be the one who'd go on to direct blockbusters.

In 2007, direct-to-DVD horror movie Zombie Town was sold as Night of the Creeps 2 in some territories; but don't be fooled, the films have no connection whatsoever beyond the central monsters.
