Climactic set-pieces have been a real mixed bag in the MCU so far: there's the excellent likes of The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange, but on the other hand the completely forgettable Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World, the exhaustingly over-the-top Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Guardians of the Galaxy, which blew its final fight on a punchline instead.

Hopefully GOTG2 won't kill Ayesha off with another joke fight, because fans honestly deserve unique, invigorating set-pieces rather than lame beams in the sky, one-minute battles and cluttered set-pieces without much visual coherence to speak of.

Gunn surely wouldn't be foolish enough to recycle the same gag twice, but it doesn't mean the movie's climax will be inventive and memorable either.

Which Marvel pitfalls must GOTG2 avoid? Shout them out in the comments!
