12 Marvel Mistakes Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Must Avoid

6. Stakes That Just Don't Matter

Stakes have been a problem in the MCU for a long time. It's hard to ever get truly invested in the peril of the action sequences because we know the name actors aren't ever going to die, and everyone's contractual obligations are leaked years before they actually expire.

In terms of the films themselves, though, the abundance of fantastical nonsense means that people can theoretically be resurrected on a whim, what with Agent Coulson being revived in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Doctor Strange introducing time travel with the Eye of Agamotto.

It means that death has little consequence, which in turn impairs the villainous threat, especially with so little emphasis placed on collateral damage (at least until Captain America: Civil War).

GOTG2 definitely faces an uphill struggle here as the first film didn't exactly invest the audience in the danger of the situation, and it's easy to believe this one will similarly coast on its charm.
