12 More Film Characters Whose Deaths Came Out Of Nowhere

10. Majid (Cache)

majid Michael Haneke's dark French thriller follows the lives of a family tortured by a series of chilling surveillance tapes left on their porch. Not known for its high-octane action or pacey story-telling, French cinema bucks the trend with this masterpiece of movie making from one of cinema's greatest directors. The brutal and graphic death of Majid - the man believed to be behind the stalking - is a striking scene and one that burns the retinas of the audience. As he stands, accused, in front of Daniel Auteuil's protagonist, Majid proceeds to pull from his pocket a switch-blade, running the sharp knife across his throat. In a fountain of blood, he slumps to the floor and along with him, go a thousand unanswered questions. The absence of guilt or accountability is carried through till the credits roll as the notoriously morose director shares his bleak attitude with the audience. If you couldn't handle the ambiguity at the end of Inception then I would say this film was a non-starter - for anyone else, I'd strongly recommend you see it and I also apologize for giving away the climax.
