12 Most Ridiculous Biopic Castings Of All Time

3. Leonardo DiCaprio - J. Edgar Hoover (J. Edgar)

Leonardo DiCaprio's impeccable acting chops speak for themselves, though even his immense talents couldn't make him convincingly pass for inaugural FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.

Let's get the obvious right out of the way: even a young Hoover looks nothing like DiCaprio, and by the time director Clint Eastwood introduces prosthetics to age the actor, it's game over.

DiCaprio's performance is fine enough, but he's forced to prop up an otherwise boring movie which suffocates him under aggressive and distractingly silly make-up effects.

Billy Crudup made for a far more believable Hoover in Michael Mann's Public Enemies a few years prior, honestly. At least DiCaprio scored a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination for his performance, right?
