12 Movies With Way Happier Endings Than You'd Ever Expect
7. Coco
Pixar movies have fun playing emotional tug-of-war with their audiences, and while movies like Up and Inside Out are most definitely huge contenders for this article, the underdog of them all has to be 2017's Coco.
Being a Disney film, a happy ending had always been in mind, but with a lot of Pixar movies the ending is kind of bittersweet, albeit leaning towards the positive.
At the end of Coco, Miguel returns from the Land of the Dead and reignites the memories of his deceased great-great-grandfather with his great-grandmother Mama Coco. The memory of the passionate musician Hector is restored and a year later, all the deceased relatives of Miguel visit the living to celebrate the Day of the Dead.
I think it's safe to say we didn't expect this to end happily. Again, Pixar films tend to end very bittersweet and often see the characters moving on or coming to terms with some tragedy in their lives. Coco on the other hand, literally ends with a musical number (maybe the best in the film) as all the characters we came to love and enjoy, come together and rejoice.
Aside from the sinister Ernesto de la Cruz, everyone gets a happy ending.
