12 Original Films That Could Be Big Hits In 2016
4. The Nice Guys
What recent career resurgence is most exciting? Matthew McConaughey? Nope. Michael Keaton? Guess again. Justin Bieber? Oh, just stop.
The correct answer is Shane Black.
Say what you will about Iron Man 3, but it can at least be said that it helped bring the king of the '80s action movie back into Hollywood’s good graces. We’ve all been eagerly anticipating how Black would follow up his foray into Marvel territory and, while it took him longer than expected, it seems like it was worth the wait.
The Nice Guys is Black’s return to quips, lowlife good guys, violence and (probably) Christmas. The footage that has been released so far indicates that Black is in top form for this 70s-set caper about a private eye and an enforcer who team up to solve a crime. Black’s trademark dialogue is on full display and the pairing of Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in the lead roles looks to be a winner.
The last time Black took on this kind of material, the end product was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. That film didn’t do much business at the box office, but has since become a cult favorite. This time around having two big names on the poster and the popularity of the trailers should give Black the hit he deserves.
