Martin Scorsese's crime epic about mob hitman Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran has been in development for years, with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel and Joe Pesci perpetually attached to star.

However, with production actually getting set to begin soon, it was revealed that the retired Pesci turned down Scorsese's offer and has decided to remain in retirement, to the heartbreak of film fans the world over.

While The Irishman still has three marquee names attached, it'll unavoidably be a bittersweet end product without Pesci joining the dream team, considering his age and the fact he hasn't worked with Scorsese in over two decades.
