Many groaned when it was revealed that Adam Sandler had signed a huge four-picture deal with Netflix, two of which have been released so far, The Ridiculous Six at the tail-end of 2015, and The Do-Over in mid-2016.

While some might wonder what the streaming giant is doing getting into bed with Sandler, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos had an answer: “The two Adam Sandler movies premiered at No. 1 in every single territory of Netflix around the world."

Though some are protesting Netflix getting clogged up with terrible new Sandler movies, the business model does represent a win-win for more people than not: Sandler doesn't have to worry about box office, Netflix gets big star-backed content, Sandler fans get to see his new movies without paying for a cinema ticket, and even the haters can hate-watch without shelling out an extra dime.

It's depressing that these awful movies are so popular when Netflix could be investing their money in so many other more interesting avenues, but the business side of it is totally makes sense.
