12 Upcoming Movies Nerds Should Be Most Thankful For

6. The BFG

Release Date: July 1st 2016 It might not have lasers or spandex or a mega popular franchise behind it, but Steven Spielberg€™s take on the classic Roald Dahl story should appeal to the kid in everyone. Particularly those who were reared on repeated viewings of the animated adaptation from 1989. It€™s a truly enchanted tale of kidnapping, cannibalism and child mortality, with lashings of whimsy and words that sound vaguely rude like snozzcumber. And it€™s exactly the kind of thing to tease some of the old Amblin family magic out of Spielberg. Why Should You Be Thankful? It doesn€™t really need to be said for fans, but the BFG is a better story than The Hobbit, and it lends itself to film far more readily (which is perhaps why it€™s been planned in various stages since 1991). Yes, it should probably be released in the winter window, but just count yourself lucky it€™s happening at all.
