12 Upcoming Movies Nerds Should Be Most Thankful For
6. The BFG
Release Date: July 1st 2016 It might not have lasers or spandex or a mega popular franchise behind it, but Steven Spielbergs take on the classic Roald Dahl story should appeal to the kid in everyone. Particularly those who were reared on repeated viewings of the animated adaptation from 1989. Its a truly enchanted tale of kidnapping, cannibalism and child mortality, with lashings of whimsy and words that sound vaguely rude like snozzcumber. And its exactly the kind of thing to tease some of the old Amblin family magic out of Spielberg. Why Should You Be Thankful? It doesnt really need to be said for fans, but the BFG is a better story than The Hobbit, and it lends itself to film far more readily (which is perhaps why its been planned in various stages since 1991). Yes, it should probably be released in the winter window, but just count yourself lucky its happening at all.
