12 Weirdest Pieces Of Movie Merchandise Ever Created

5. The Little Mermaid Fish Nuggets

We know that at the end of The Little Mermaid Ariel forgoes her former aquatic lifestyle and swaps her fishtail for human legs, so it’s quite possible she took on other landlubber characteristics too like adding a bit of beef or pork to her diet – you know, the kind of delicacies you just can’t get when you live under the sea.

But it’s important to remember that she was once part fish, her biological family are all still part fish and her closest friends Flounder and Sebastian are whole fish. So it’s a little weird then that Disney teamed up with seafood suppliers American Pride Seafood to create these Little Mermaid-themed fish nuggets.

Sure, they claim the nuggets are made out of prime Alaskan pollack but who’s to say a chunk of Flounder or Sebastian crabmeat didn’t sneak its way into the mix? They’re even given a cutesy name, Dip Sea Dooz, to distract kids from the fact they could be eating Ariel’s best mates. All we can conclude is that since gaining her legs, Ariel has gone rogue and taken up cannibalism.

And before you say ‘But fish eat other fish!’, let us remind you that in the movie Ariel’s dad refers to humans as “spineless, savage, harpooning fish-eaters” so we’re assuming the consumption of seafood is frowned upon in the kingdom of Atlantica and that Ariel is indeed promoting cannibalism.

Mind, for a movie that also promotes bestiality and child brides we probably shouldn’t be too surprised.
