13 Announced Movie Remakes Which Could Be Awesome
3. Nosferatu
The Original: F. W. Murnau's 1922 German Expressionist horror film has influenced virtually every movie in the genre since, with Murnau's unforgettable direction and Max Schreck's iconic performance as Nosferatu amounting to an experience that remains blood-chilling today.
The Remake: Nosferatu has in fact already been remade, with Werner Herzog's 1979 movie Nosferatu the Vampyre shrewdly casting Klaus Kinski in the titular role to sublimely unnerving effect.
Another remake is currently in the works from another visionary filmmaker, Robert Eggers (The Witch). Little is known about the project beyond his The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy playing the female lead, and that Eggers should get to work on it once he completes post-production on his upcoming fantasy-horror The Lighthouse.
Eggers feels like the perfect choice to direct a remake of Nosferatu that stands on its own two feet as something completely different, so fingers and toes are firmly crossed that he gets around to it sooner rather than later.
