5. The Joker Is Robin - Suicide Squad

The Theory: Zack Snyder's new version of The Joker (Jared Leto) is in fact formerly Robin, who for current reasons unknown has gone insane and become the Dark Knight's most ferocious adversary. Why It Could Be True: Fans have done a terrific job breaking down the Batman v Superman trailer for clues, the most curious of which is that two of the bullet-holes on Robin's vandalised outfit (pictured above) match scars seen on that first picture of Leto's Joker. Plus, in many comic iterations of Batman, a version of Robin is turned into an iteration of The Joker, so it has a rooting in acclaimed source material, and finally, it would also help differentiate Leto's portrayal from Heath Ledger's unforgettable work in the role. Why It Probably Won't Be: It's a very out-there Joker origin story, especially when the more likely explanation for that Robin suit is that The Joker killed him before Batman v Superman. It seems much more likely that this is just inventive fan conjecture, but passionate and interesting all the same.
