The Role: An Imperial Military Director for the Galactic Empire who oversees the development of the Death Star, aiming to protect it from the Rebels who seek to destroy it and serving as the film's primary antagonist.
Why You Should Be Excited: Because how ridiculously bada** does this guy look? Ben Mendelsohn is a terrific actor who has really come into his own over the last few years, and he looks every bit the classic Star Wars villain you'd hope for in a movie that provides the lead-in to A New Hope.
Though Darth Vader's appearance in Rogue One may steal a little of his thunder, it's still reasonable to expect a character similar to Grand Moff Tarkin, a stern, well-dressed baddie who can easily stand alongside Vader when it comes to intimidation.
