The Movie: Alan Taylor (Game Of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World) directs this ambitious new addition to the Terminator franchise, with Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his iconic role for the first time on screen in 12 years. Why The Fanboys Will Hate It: Because it's essentially a soft reboot, using an alternate timeline to completely retcon the established tenets of the franchise. Sarah Connor is now raised by a Terminator who she refers to as "Pops", cut-price Sam Worthington himself, Jai Courtney, plays Kyle Reese, and leaked plot details suggest that the movie is going to undo a lot of what took place in the previous movies. Regardless of its own internal quality as a reboot, it's going to get dumped on by fans of the franchise. Will It Succeed Anyway?: It's hard to say. Arnie isn't the box office draw he used to be, and while there's zero chance of the pic outright flopping, it may turn in decent if unremarkable returns like the last movie. Critically, it's likely to get savaged, given how much respect there is for the original two movies.
