15 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Tarantino Movies

9. Sylvester Stallone - Stuntman Mike (Death Proof)

The Role: A number of actors were associated with the role of aging Stuntman Mike which eventually went to Kurt Russell, with the likes of Mickey Rourke and Ving Rhames being considered, as well as most surprisingly, Sylvester Stallone. What Happened?: Tarantino's nostalgic fondness for Russell won out in the end, as he declared being incredibly eager to see the actor back in the sort of bada** action role he hadn't taken on in quite a few years. Would It Have Worked?: This is a tough one. On one hand, it certainly would have been a curious sight to see, and Sly can absolutely be a fantastic actor when he wants to be, but then again, would audiences have been able to forget that they were watching Stallone? At least the movie is already regarded as Tarantino's worst film, so it probably would have just made it "different" rather than worse had Stallone starred. And the parallels between Sly as an aging action star (who is decidedly more active than Russell) and Mike's own age are undeniable.
