15 Australian Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

At only seven minutes long, short film Cargo is a bit of an outlier amongst all these Aussie feature horrors but it’s such a good little movie that it’d be a crime not to include it.

Directed by filmmakers Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke, it’s a zombie apocalypse themed film that follows an infected dad who must find shelter and safety for his baby daughter – the precious cargo of the title – before he turns into a zombie himself.

A heart-warming story taking place in a horrifying situation, the film went viral after its debut the 2013 Tropfest Short Film Festival and has amassed nearly 13 million views to date. Howling and Ramke are currently making a feature length version of Cargo set for release sometime this year and starring The Hobbit actor Martin Freeman as the hapless, soon to be zombified father.
