15 Gloriously Hammy Performances In Horror Movies

10. Robert Englund - Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)

The Movie: In part six of the Nightmare On Elm Street series, dream monster Freddy Krueger has finally killed all the children of his hometown, and seeks to escape its confines to hunt fresh prey. To this end, he recruits the aid of his (previously unmentioned) daughter. The Scenery-Chewing Performance: This may seem odd to some, but there was a time when Freddy Krueger wasn't a jokester and was legitimately frightening. This was thanks in large part to Robert Englund€™s chilling portrayal of the slasher icon in Wes Craven's original NOES in 1984. However, since that time Freddy has gone from terrifying to excessively comical. The Final Nightmare is Freddy at his most ridiculous - whether he's "playing with power" as he controls a kid within a video game with a power glove or he's simply doing cartwheels for absolutely no reason. This is a movie character completely off the leash and Englund seems to be having the time of his life portraying him.
