15 Great Sci-Fi Movies (Nobody Ever Talks About)

David Bowie The Man Who Fell To Earth
BBC/ HBO

This 2009 British sci fi comedy was savaged by critics upon its release in 2009, with the Chris O’Dowd starring lad’s flick earning unfavourable comparisons to other examples of the then-popular genre such as 2004’s classic Shaun of the Dead and 2009’s Lesbian Vampire Killers—though to be fair to HBO and the BBC, who joined forces to produce this one, very few comparisons to Lesbian Vampire Killers could be anything but unfavourable.

However, thanks to a typically charming performance from Moone Boy star O’Dowd and a surprise appearance from Scary Movie starlet and comic stalwart Anna Faris, this one is more than worth a watch for fans of Red Dwarf and any other classic slightly silly but undeniably fun British sci-fi comedies. Just don't take it too seriously.
