Rubbish: X-Men 3: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Phew. Things didn't look great for a while there. After successfully bringing the much-loved Marvel Comics characters to the big screen, and in so doing throwing the door wide open for a flood of comic book movies to follow, the X-Men series went dangerously off course with X-Men 3 and the first Wolverine solo effort, which threatened to kill the series off before it had even had a chance to really get going.

Happily, First Class and The Wolverine brought the X-movies back to full strength. Now, with the success of the radically different Deadpool, and a whole new ensemble set to be introduced in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, plus Gambit, a Deapool sequel, The New Mutants and X-Force on the way, Fox's mutant universe has never looked healthier.
