15 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movie Performances

8. Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange (Doctor Strange)

The mere presence of a character such as Doctor Strange within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a game-changer. Strange is a walking deus ex machina, a master sorcerer whose powers are vast and near limitless. Once a renowned surgeon, Strange sought out the Ancient One in order to heal his hands after a car accident, becoming Marvel's Master of the Mystic Arts. He may be yet another mustachioed, narcissistic, entitled white dude with the reputation of a puckered a**hole but Strange is a herald of sorts. Tony Stark€™s world, in a weird way, contains a maligned sense of realism. There€™s a science-fiction based explanation for mostly everything. However, a Doctor Strange movie is symbolic of Marvel going balls-to-the-wall with he uncanny. If it works, it€™ll be a glorious comic book film with it€™s own distinct flavour that€™ll make stupid amounts of money. If it doesn€™t, it€™ll be a messy comic book film with its own distinct flavour that€™ll make stupid amounts of money. Casting Cumberbatch is a smart move: he€™s proven as a talented actor and has a dedicated fan base that will skin you alive and wear the results like a frock if you even whisper a negative comment about him. A true character actor, Cumberbatch has played personalities as diverse as Sherlock Holmes and Khan (Star Trek). You need an actor with some mainstream appeal and cheek bones sculpted by Aphrodite if you want to sell someone as weird as Doctor Strange to the masses.
