15 Most Obscure Comic Books That Were Turned Into Movies
2. Art School Confidential
Art School Confidential was an unpleasant look life for art students that was included as part of the Eightball series in 1991. Fitting in with the controversial narratives of the series and of its publisher, Fantagraphics Books, a whole lot of cynicism was packed into just a few pages.
Despite its short length, the story still managed to inspire feature film that was to be released in 2006. In the tradition of Ghost World and American Splendor, it didn't reel in the big bucks and probably wasn't intended to.
But unlike the other Eightball adaptation or American Splendor, critics didn't really take a liking to Art School Confidential either. Reviews were mostly negative and, no, it did not get an Oscar nod for its screenplay.
