15 Most Overrated Movies Of The 2020s (So Far)

11. The Platform

Elvis Movie
Netflix

Rotten Tomatoes: 79% (Average Score: 7.10/10)

IMDb: 7.0

The Platform has an absolutely amazing premise, so it's not a surprise that so many people watched it on Netflix - furthermore, a sci-fi horror film about imprisonment and isolation was pretty relevant in 2020, which is when The Platform came out.

What is a surprise, however, is that this movie got pretty strong reviews from critics despite the fact that it is an absolute mess from top to bottom.

Strong performances and visuals aside, The Platform leaps from subplot to subplot to subplot, character to character without a shred of coherence or structure, before eventually building to a monumentally unsatisfying climax that offers nothing in the way of a proper pay-off. Really, it's a three-star film at the very most.

Once again, critics just can't seem to get horror right.

An Underrated Alternative: Possessor (2020) - A far better 2020 horror film that sadly didn't get nearly as much attention as this one.
