15 Most Terrifying Horror Film Moments Of The Decade (So Far)
9. Peach Fuzz (Creep)
The new found footage horror film Creep is a deeply unsettling experience that ranges from funny to cringy to scary, sometimes all within the span of a few minutes. It builds up the reality of this scenario so well that just a scene of a guy standing perfectly still will stick with you forever. Warning: spoilers ahead.
All throughout Creep, the audience is trying to suss out what kind of guy Josef is. Is he well meaning but socially awkward? Is he totally deranged? The movie thrives on that ambiguity, having Josef do these bizarre things that are strange enough to be creepy, but not so ridiculously strange that Aaron would just run out the door.
However, that all changes about halfway through when Aaron realizes Josef is deeply disturbed. He attempts to leave the house, but as soon as he reaches the door, Josef is wearing his wolf mask and blocking it. The awkward dynamic between the two has been established so expertly, and on many occasions you've been convinced that Josef is just an awkward but nice dude, so to see him completely unhinged like this is chilling. He moves around like an animal and simply nods his head up and down to Aaron's questions, and you realize that even worse than being trapped in this house with an actual monster is being trapped with a true psychopath.
