The Buzz: Christopher Nolan's ambitious new sci-fi movie is, as with any Nolan film, avoiding the festival circuit in favour of a regular theatrical release. Trailers for the film, which follows an engineer (Matthew McConaughey) who enters a wormhole to try and save humanity, have been characteristically vague about giving away too much, though they imply another smart, visually stunning, emotional adventure from one of Hollywood's most exciting mainstream filmmakers. Oscar Predictions: The Academy and Nolan have something of a frosty relationship, though away from the Batman franchise he's always fared better, and so if the movie can live up to the hype, expect nods for Best Picture, Best Director (Nolan), Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score (c'mon, it's Hans Zimmer!), Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Visual Effects. There's a fair chance Interstellar could end up as the year's most-nominated film, though unless the movie really is that undisputably great, it's hard not to believe that Nolan will again go home empty-handed, even if the film scoops a few below-the-line wins. Release Date: November 7th (US & UK)
