9. Men In Black

Bane Poison Ivy Batman And Robin
Sony Pictures

Adapted from the short-lived comic series of the same name, Men in Black starred a typically gruff Tommy Lee Jones as an agent for a secret government organisation tasked with monitoring extraterrestrial lifeforms living on Earth who recruits NYPD officer Will Smith just as the world is threatened by all-out alien war.

Complete with a poppy theme tune from Will Smith himself (which somehow took the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance over The Notorious BIG and Busta Rhymes), the comedy sci-fi went on to get three Oscar nominations and scooped one award for Best Makeup for its alien creatures designed by acclaimed SFX talents Rick Baker and David LeRoy Anderson.

Though it was followed by two successful sequels, the last of which was only released five years ago, Hollywood is already gunning for a Men in Black remake which according to the current rumour mill will either be a reboot trilogy or a 21 Jump Street crossover which could be interesting.
