15 Near Miss Villain Castings That Would Suck More Than Eisenberg's Luthor

1. Matthew Broderick - Walter White (Breaking Bad)

But nothing makes quite as little sense to me as the idea of Matthew Broderick playing everyone's favourite sociopathic crystal meth kingpin, Walter White. It's fair to say that the perpetually baby-faced Broderick has been in need of an edgy role for quite a number of years, as even now, he's still best known for playing Ferris Bueller, and for the younger generation, Inspector Gadget. However, given his perceived lack of range with only a few exceptions (Glory, Election, Margaret etc), it's difficult to imagine him pulling this one off, even if Cranston's brilliant performance has essentially prejudiced us against anyone else in the part. John Cusack was also reportedly offered the part, but at least he's proven in recent roles like The Paperboy that he can do darkness well, so I could actually kinda see that one working. Broderick? I'm just not convinced, even though seeing Broderick try to pluge into such a dark part would've been an interesting experiment to behold. What do you make of these almost-cast actors? Let me know in the comments!
