15 Stunning Facts About 2017’s Biggest Movies

1. Eddie Redmayne Was Considered For Dr. Henry Jekyll - The Mummy

The Tom Cruise-starring The Mummy reboot may have been a wretched dumpster fire of a movie, but to his mild credit Russell Crowe was basically the only actor in the film who didn't seem to be taking himself too seriously, hamming it up for the cheap seats as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Bizarrely, though, an actor from the total opposite end of the spectrum was very nearly cast in the role: Eddie Redmayne. In fairness, Redmayne proved with Jupiter Ascending that he can deliver classically over-the-top (not to mention Razzie-nominated) villainy, but he's not at all physically imposing, especially compared to Crowe.

Can anyone seriously imagine Redmayne throwing Cruise around like Crowe did? Universal definitely made the right call here, as horrid as the film largely is. Crowe feels right as Jekyll and Hyde, even if the character as a whole sticks out from the rest of the movie.
